Under the flagship initiative of the Government of India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the NCC Wing (1 CHD Girls Battalion) of the college successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Waste Management and Cleanliness of the Environment” on 25th February, 2026. The primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness among students about the importance of waste segregation, sustainable waste management practices, and maintaining environmental cleanliness. The event was sponsored by 1 CHD Girls Battalion, Chandigarh.

More than 80 NCC cadets from 8 different institutions actively participated in the campaign, out of which 45 cadets belonged to Govt. Home Science College. The workshop included informative sessions, practical demonstrations, and interactive discussions highlighting the impact of improper waste disposal on the environment and public health.

The principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, appreciated the efforts of the NCC wing of the college and strongly advocated that cleanliness and environmental sustainability are not merely responsibilities but moral duties of every citizen. Such initiatives play a vital role in sensitizing young minds towards responsible waste management practices and environmental conservation.
