An inspiring showcase of creativity and empowerment at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh Chandigarh, April 25, 2025: Artscapes, a non-profit NGO, has once again brought the spotlight on women in the field of art through its flagship event — the 11th Annual Women Artists’ Exhibition 2025, inaugurated today at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh. Dedicated to encouraging, reinforcing, and bringing forth artistic talent across various art forms — including Visual Art, Literary Art, Performing Art, and Literature — Artscapes continues to uphold its mission of making art accessible to the masses and nurturing creativity at the grassroots level. The exhibition was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He praised the efforts of Artscapes in promoting women artists and highlighted the transformative power of art in building an inclusive, sensitive, and progressive society. He emphasized that such platforms are essential for nurturing talent and encouraging cultural dialogue. A highlight of the event was the presentation of awards totalling Rs. 3,00,000, conferred upon outstanding women artists in both professional and student categories. This year, the exhibition received nearly 1,000 entries from across India, from which over 100 exceptional artworks were meticulously selected by a distinguished jury. The selected pieces span diverse mediums including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and photography. The entire process for inviting entries begins each year in November, drawing enthusiastic participation from across the country. This year, over 1,000 entries were received from diverse regions of India, showcasing the depth and range of artistic talent. After a rigorous two-tier jury process conducted by artists of national and international repute, over 100 exceptional works were selected for display in the week-long exhibition. The initial jury was conducted by Sanjay Kumar, National Awardee and Head of the Department of Visual Arts at MDU, Rohtak, and Madan Lal, an eminent artist. The final jury was led by Kanchan Chander, an acclaimed independent visual artist and former faculty member at the College of Art, New Delhi, who holds a Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture. The critical perspective for the exhibition was provided by Archana Khare-Ghose, distinguished art critic, journalist, and curator, formerly Group Editor of Art+Auction and Modern Painters, New York. The awardees represent a wide spectrum of regions, including Pondicherry, Varanasi, Kolkata, West Bengal, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and many more — highlighting the rich diversity and immense talent of Indian women artists. This annual event is not merely an exhibition; it is a celebration of female creative expression and a strong step toward promoting and empowering women in the field of art. By offering both a platform and recognition, Artscapes continues to inspire countless women to pursue and share their artistic journeys.
