-REQUESTS CONSTRUCTION OF FLYOVER NEAR PATIALA’S NEW BUS STAND TO ENSURE FREE FLOW OF TRAFFIC
-ALSO PUTS FORWARD THE REQUEST OF PUNJAB’S NAMBARDARS FOR EXEMPTION OF TOLL
PATIALA/DELHI, 22 DECEMBER: Member Parliament from Patiala and Former External Affairs Minister Preneet Kaur today met with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi to put forward some demands related to Patiala.
In a statement released here the Patiala MP said, “I met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari ji to raise some demands of Patiala. The first demand is of a new project of construction of a two lane flyover near Patiala’s New Bus stand to ensure free flow of traffic in the area.”
Giving further details about the project, Preneet Kaur said, “With the construction of the new Interstate Bus terminal at Patiala’s Rajpura Road the traffic from the Sirhind Byepass to the Punjabi University has increased manifold. So to ensure the free flow of traffic on this section the Improvement of the Byepass junction of NH-7 is of dire necessity.”
She further said, “I have presented a detailed proposal with an estimated cost of Rs 593.25 crore to the minister in which, It has been proposed to construct a flyover from Patiala city side and joining with newly constructed flyover at this junction for traffic going from Patiala side upto Vehicular underpass near Punjabi University. Also construction of 7.00 Mtr wide service road along with the side drain and a new underpass for the traffic of Urban estate going to Patiala.”
Preneet Kaur also handed over a memorandum of Punjab Nambardar Union in which they had requested the Ministry for exemption from paying the toll as they have to regularly travel from one state to another.
